Picasso had a deep affinity for the expressive experimental potential of the print medium, as well as a deep enthusiasm for it as a popular medium. In both paintings and prints, he often revisited an image over and over, reworking it in multiple states and completely reframing in various compositions.

Throughout the course of his artistic career, Picasso forged important relationships with several successive printmakers, in whose technical expertise he would need to intimately trust to push the boundaries of the print medium. Eventually the artist himself, as an archetype, would come to be a major theme of Picasso's prints among his many masterful portraits in the graphic medium.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 4-7pm.
