See Timothy B. Schmit of The Eagles perform at The Saban with special guest, Richie Furay. Timothy B. Schmit’s career unfolds back to the halcyon 1960s. He was in his teens when he charted for the first time. At the turn of the decade he joined POCO and helped steer the band into its pioneering fusions of country, rock and folk. In 1977 he became a member of the legendary EAGLES, an association that would continue on and off for decades.
At the same time, SCHMIT also collaborated with other artists. His talents enhanced Toto’s “Africa,” Richard Marx’s “Don’t Mean Nothin’,” Bob Seger’s “Fire Lake,” Crosby Stills and Nash’s “Wasted On The Way” and multiple tracks by Steely Dan. He’s played internationally as a member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band.
All the while SCHMIT absorbed what he played and heard, weaving it strand by strand into his musical fabric. Now and then he stepped out with a solo album, including Expando in 2009, and his newest release Leap of Faith.
Rock ‘n roll luminary Richie Furay formed Buffalo Springfield with Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Bruce Palmer and Dewey Martin in 1967. Even though the band existed for just two years, Buffalo Springfield and its three primary songwriters gave birth to over 40 years of groundbreaking music, and the band was inducted into the R&R Hall Of Fame.
In 1968, Furay formed POCO, one of the first “country-rock” hybrid bands, with Jim Mesina, Rust Young, George Grantham, Randy Meisner (quickly replaced by Timothy B. Schmitt), and Paul Cotton. POCO recorded 6 albums with
Furay at the helm, including the classics “Pickin’ Up The Pieces” and “A Good Feeling To Know”.
Furay has also enjoyed extensive success a solo artist, and with the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band (with J.D. Souther and Chris Hillman).
