The Official Beverly Hills Guide to a Royal Holiday

RELEASE DATE: Thursday, June 9, 2011

When the world's most famous newlyweds visit the Los Angeles area July 8 - 10, Beverly Hills will be royally red-carpet ready.  In Beverly Hills, the couple can expect iconic palm tree-lined streets, the splendor of sunshine and the hospitable service of the city's hotels, restaurants and retailers.

"No visit to the LA area is complete without a stop in Beverly Hills," said Bill Wiley, Board Chair of the Beverly Hills Conference and Visitors Bureau. "Throughout the city's history, presidents, dukes and celebrities have visited here to experience our city's charm and pay homage to the home of luxury and glamour.  It is with absolute pleasure that we welcome Prince William and Princess Kate to Beverly Hills."

While the Duke and Duchess' visit is expected to be a working trip, there are plenty of opportunities for relaxation, pampering and shopping to complete the experience for all who holiday here.    In anticipation of a possible stop in Beverly Hills, Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau offers these tips on how to holiday like a royal.

The new Duke and Duchess are truly royalty for the people with Catherine's chic high-street fashion and their low-key lifestyle.  Beverly Hills offers a variety of experiences, appealing to both the mainstream and youthful sides of this beloved duo.

The No List Bar: The Bar Room at Porta Via

For a young couple who likes to party with the people without the pretentious queues, The Bar Room at Porta Via is the perfect hotspot.  Since opening on Cañon Drive last year, locals have flocked to this neighborhood bar for late night drinks and ambiance.  Ease into one of the movable leather banquettes and sip an old-time cocktail with a modern spin - the Moscow Mule made with Russian Standard Platinum Vodka, for example.   Add a small plate (ceviche or sweet potato fries with blue cheese dressing) or go for the full monty with an entree selection off the Porta Via menu.  The Bar Room offers the feel of an exclusive nightclub without the attitude.

Visit Porta Via at 424 N. Canon Drive.

A Ten Dollar Trolley Ride

Beverly Hills' version of London's infamous double-decker bus is the city's quaint trolley.  The historic Beverly Hills tour travels through the Golden Triangle and north of Sunset past the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel.  The narrated tours are $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12.  The trolley departs at the corner of Dayton Way and Rodeo Drive, every Saturday and Sunday on the hour, 11am - 4pm.  Beginning July 5th, the trolley resumes its summer schedule departing Tuesday through Sunday.
