To hear her tell it, MaryLou Boone became an art collector accidentally. While vacationing in France, she saw a ceramic apothecary jar that was so graceful and colorful that she simply had to buy it. This moment led to years of diligent study (and many more trips to France), during which she formed one of the nation's best privately held collections of French ceramics. She generously donated a number of her pieces to LACMA in 2010, and her collection is on display in its entirety through March 31 in the exhibition, Daily Pleasures: French Ceramics from the MaryLou Boone Collection.
In this program, Elizabeth Williams, who curated the exhibition, will be joined by noted decorative arts historian and writer Victoria Kastner to discuss with Mrs. Boone how she came to be "an accidental collector." This lecture is presented by the Decorative Arts and Design Council.
